"A Ministry in the Heart of the City with a Heart for the City.”

Pastor Joe and Mrs. Gwynn Browne have dedicated over 30 years of service to the Los Angeles community.

Their vision is to cultivate a dynamic culture of Christian discipleship within our congregations. They aim to equip servant leaders to strengthen the body of Christ, foster authentic Christian communities, expand the Kingdom of God, bridge suburban and urban divides, and nurture healthy environments.

Their mission is to connect individuals eager to make a difference with those seeking transformation in their lives, inspired by Isaiah 61:1-3. They are committed to community care through various initiatives, including food programs, youth outreach, and more.

One of Our Connections

Pastor Song and His Family

Pastor Song Eun-ick, his wife Sarah, and their children Daniel, Esther, and Abigail serve the FICM community, having transitioned from their former Korean church to volunteer here.
Abigail, the youngest member of the family, first began serving in the kitchen at age 8, making egg scrambles for the Saturday breakfast service. She is now a college student!
Pastor Song currently serves the community as the preaching pastor, delivering God’s message on Sundays and Saturdays.

Daniel, Abigail, Ms. Gwynn, and Esther. Each one of these young adults have contributed to providing resources by sharing their skills and amassed over $70,000 in gift-in-kind donations to supplement our food program during the COVID pandemic.

Through Food Finders, of which we are a partner agency, we were able to bless 47 families with a frozen turkey along with canned food and other items to complete a holiday meal from the bounty of canned goods from South High School in Torrance. We have been blessed with a wonderful connection through one of our long time serving volunteers who connected us with South High School’s student canned food drive. Our pantry was almost depleted, so we were having to purchase canned vegetables and fruit to supplement the weekly food bags.

Day Spot, Women’s Program

Our first focus is on women living in the local shelter and transitional housing. All women in our community are welcome to participate. We host a monthly gathering every 3rd Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. It’s a safe haven to be refreshed and encouraged!

Ms. Gwynn really became fully aware of women being impacted by the homeless crisis when a high school acquaintance stopped to have breakfast during our weekly Saturday Breakfast for the community (the homeless, the street people, or anyone hungry). The woman had her suitcase, and I asked if she was traveling. She told me she was homeless and the shelter required everyone to leave the premises until the evening, and they have to take their belongings with them.

We chatted and she asked if she could come to our center and take time to go through her suitcase. In our conversation she told me of the Downtown Women’s Center which is an excellent resource for women who are experiencing being unhoused. The only drawback is that it is downtown in the heart of skidrow and she like other women I have spoken with just can’t or don’t want to be in such an oppressive, dangerous environment.

So the inception of our Day Spot for women began (a place to come and begin again).  We offer a nurturing place for women to come together and regain the social skills of interacting on a level where they can open up about their situations and concerns. A place where they can be part a fellowship of women who all are facing some challenge, yet we find how much we
